AI Coaching
The AI Coaching feature reads the extracted data from your replay and generates personalised improvement advice — not generic tips that apply to everyone, but feedback grounded in what you actually did in that specific game.
How It Works
- 1. You upload a StarCraft II .SC2Replay file.
- 2. sc2reader parses the replay and extracts structured stats: supply, unit counts, building timings, income, battle events.
- 3. The parsed data is passed to the AI model as context — not guesses, actual numbers from your game.
- 4. The AI analyses the data against known StarCraft II principles and generates personalised coaching feedback.
- 5. You receive the coaching output alongside the graphs and stats — no need to interpret the raw data yourself.
What Makes It Different
- › "Remember to build workers early"
- › "Make sure to scout your opponent"
- › "Don't forget to upgrade"
- › Not actually about your game
- › "You hit 54 workers at 7:30 — your opponent had 67"
- › "Barracks was idle between 4:10 and 4:43 in this game"
- › "Your +1 attack was researched 2:20 later than ideal"
- › Rooted in your actual replay data
The AI doesn't invent advice — it interprets the statistics sc2reader extracted from your replay. If the data shows a macro deficit, the coaching explains it. If the data shows a clean build order, the coaching confirms that and looks elsewhere.
Example Coaching Output
Your worker count reached 47 at the 7-minute mark while your opponent had 61. This 14-worker gap represents approximately 280 minerals per minute in lost collection rates. Your Barracks was idle for 38 seconds between 3:52 and 4:30 — this gap suggests a production dip caused by supply block or mineral shortage during the critical expansion phase.
Your opening follows the expected 1-Rax CC pattern cleanly. The Command Centre landed at 28 supply, which is within the ideal 27–30 range. You were not punished for this, but your natural wall completed 18 seconds later than optimal, leaving a wider window during the Marine timing where an opponent push would be harder to hold.
You transitioned to Mech units (Thors + Tanks) after the 10-minute mark. Your opponent switched to bio with 3/3 upgrades. The composition matchup is favourable for you on paper given the map's narrow corridors — the fight at 13:24 was lost primarily due to tank positioning, not comp weakness.

How to Read the Output
The coaching is structured with the most impactful issue first. Address problems from the top down — fixing a macro deficit will have more impact per game than perfecting a specific fight micro technique.
Timestamps in the coaching correspond to the same timestamps in the replay. Use both together — read the coaching, then jump to that moment in-game replay to see the visual context.
Combining with Manual Review
AI coaching and in-game replay observer mode are complementary, not alternatives. Use the AI coaching to surface what happened in data — then use observer mode to understand why it happened in context.
Effective workflow: read the coaching output first, note 2–3 timestamps to check, then open the replay in StarCraft II and jump directly to those moments. The data narrows your manual review focus dramatically.
Limitations
The AI coaching is limited to what the replay data contains. Important limitations to bear in mind:
- Invisible units (cloaked, burrowed) are not visible in replay data in the same way a live human observer would see them.
- Intent is inferred from build order data — the AI cannot know you were adapting mid-build due to a ping from a teammate.
- Team games have significantly more variables and the coaching quality scales down with number of players.
- Map-specific positioning nuances may not be captured — the AI reasons from unit counts and timings, not spatial replay.
- Very short replays (sub-5 minutes) contain too little data for meaningful coaching.
